Nestled on the very edge of the charming village of Lockeridge, near Marlborough, the cottage is an incredible base from which to explore the Pewsey Downs, Avebury World Heritage Site, Savernake Forest (joint oldest forest in the UK) and sits right opposite the 'Denes' where the builders of Stonehenge sourced the stones for the outer circle. There are loads of great pubs nearby - not least the Whod'a Thought It which is Lockeridge's own pub. Also a few minutes drive away is the start of the Ridgeway - one of the country's most ancient and beautiful walkways - along with West Kennet Longbarrow and Silbury Hill.
The house itself is a 17th Century Grade II listed thatched cottage. The bathroom and kitchen were both recently updated and the garden has just had the lawn re-laid. The ceilings are definitely on the low side so do watch out for heads on the beams.
The house is a family holiday home, so there are lots of books, a record player and LPs, a tv (with apple tv) and a grand piano - of which we only ask that guests are respectful if they use them. And specifically please only use the record player if you're familiar with how they work! There are sometimes spiderwebs which no matter how much we clean do tend to come back quite quickly due to the thatch roof and old building. The house is incredibly peaceful and the views up behind the house towards West Woods are a perfect way to start or end your day.
