This lovely farm cottage is perfect for a relaxing retreat with family and friends to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This is an ideal holiday destination for walkers, bird watchers, cyclists and all those who love the countryside. The cottage is situated on a working smallholding in a rural setting and within walking distance of the village of Northlew. The cottage is tastefully decorated in a shabby chic, colour and style. Although attached to the owners home, the property is private with its own entrance and a pretty enclosed garden. The owners look after the holiday cottage as a mother and daughter team. The farm is a busy small holding and the owners are very keen conservationists and run everything to be as environmentally friendly as possible supporting all kinds of wildlife.
Slate Quarry Cottage can accommodate six guests. Heading upstairs there is a double master bedroom with an en-suite toilet and wash basin, a twin bedroom, two single bedrooms and a family bathroom. Please note that one of the single bedrooms has a low sloped ceiling and a wooden baby cot so this room may be more suited for children. There is a fully fitted and well equipped kitchen complete with table, chairs and a high chair. The kitchen includes a free standing cooker and with extractor, fridge freezer, large dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is plenty of cupboard space for your shopping and the floor is original slate. Off the kitchen is a charming spacious dining room, complete with a large dining table and chairs. There is a cosy sitting room with two comfy sofas where you can watch television and relax. The cottage has a roomy front porch, perfect for muddy wellies and wet coats! Outside, the cottage has a pretty, enclosed garden complete with a picnic bench, perfect for dining al fresco. There is an outside rotary washing line suitable for drying cloths and wet beach ware etc. Free superfast fibre Wi-Fi is provided and there is allocated parking for up to two cars. A high chair and stairgates can be provided on request. Two well behaved dogs are allowed to stay in the property for an additional charge.
The cottage is situated a mile from the local village of Northlew where there is a village square with a pub, community shop, post office, children’s playground and church. Dartmoor National Park is also within a short drive with its fun-filled activities such as hiking, pony riding, tor bagging, letter boxing or walking the rugged, wild expanse of open moorland. The Pegasus Trail and Cycle trails such as The Granite Way are within close proximity and the local town of Okehampton has a popular golf course. The local forest commission have plantations where you are free to walk or why not venture on a stroll along the pretty Devon lanes. If you love beaches or surfing, the North and South Devon coastlines are within reach whilst the cathedral city of Exeter offers plenty of retail therapy opportunities and includes bars, restaurants, and cafés.
