Summary: Great Service, Good Food… and the Bed That Divides
I stayed two nights at Otium Hotel and came away with mixed—but mostly positive—impressions.
First, the staff: genuinely friendly, approachable, and helpful across all roles. When I discovered what appeared to be a blood stain on the bedding in my first room, the issue was handled swiftly and professionally, with an immediate room change and no hassle. That level of service deserves credit.
Dinner was very enjoyable, with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. The only downside was the pace of service, particularly for drinks, which could have been faster. Considering drinks are usually the highest-margin items, this felt like a missed opportunity.
The room change did highlight one clear weakness: housekeeping. When beds are remade, it’s hard to understand how such an obvious stain on “fresh” bedding was missed. And while I appreciate how busy staff can be, a quick glance upward might reveal the spider webs quietly decorating the corners.
The biggest disappointment, however, was the bed. Rooms are advertised as having either twin or double beds, but a “double” is simply two single mattresses pushed together. For couples who like to sleep close, this means gradually sliding into the crack in the middle and enjoying a truly awful night’s sleep.
Overall: excellent staff, good food, and fast problem-solving—but housekeeping needs more attention to detail, and the beds need an honest description (or a real mattress).

Summary: Been in the Netherlands for 2 months on working trip. Messiest place I’ve experienced so far service wise. Issues with payment and receipts for the stay, parking receipts, small requests in the kitchen… I asked for a bit of extra pasta on my relatively small dish, and offered if I could pay a bit extra to get that. I was told I had to buy another full serving instead. Had the smallest and most over cooked steak I’ve had in a long time accompanied by three lousy rösties. - we quickly decided to eat out every evening. Cleaning staff was super nice.

Summary: Nice comfortable big room. Not a huge fan of having the bathroom in the bedroom ( you wake up the other person ) but this time I was travelling alone so no problem.
