The Peak Forest canal also runs through New Mills – perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding, or you could even hire a narrow boat for the day.

There are many places to visit too, from the caverns of Castleton, to National Trust properties of historic fascination including the unmissable Quarry Bank and Lyme Park. There are many highly recommended local pubs for a walk and a drink, a pub lunch with a view, or an evening with fine food.
