For a family and dog-friendly treat, head to the Heights of Abraham (5.5 miles), a hilltop park with adventure play and caverns. Or for anyone interested in the grandeur of days gone by, both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within 8 miles.

The outside space is a quirky arrangement: an enclosed terrace with outdoor furniture on the roof of the kitchen extension below.
