From your doorstep, stroll into the centre of Holmesfield where you can find the Angel Inn and Rutland Arms, ideal for treating your loved ones to some hearty fare on the days you don't feel like cooking! Head into the market town of Dronfield, which has great historical significance and the Grade I listed Church of St John the Baptist is testament to this as it has stood at the centre of this community since the 12th century. Further afield, the scenic trails and cycle routes of the Peak District await, including many fascinating caverns, imposing peaks and listed buildings. Treat the family to a memorable stay at Glenhurst.
The market town of Dronfield in Derbyshire has a history that predates the Domesday Book and features some still-standing structures from the 12th century. The town is bordered by beautiful Peak District countryside with trails begging to be explored, as well as a variety of stores, bars, restaurants, and a contemporary sports centre. Dronfield lies near Chesterfield, a historic town known for its renowned crooked spire of St. Mary and All Saints Church, which is located close to the Peak District National Park and the city of Sheffield. The striking Damflask, Agden, Dale Dike, and Ladybower dams make for an interesting afternoon stroll, and the charming village of Hathersage—said to have served as the model for Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre—is also close by and has a variety of shops, pubs, and hospitable restaurants as well as an outdoor lido. Stately homes like Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, and Hardwick Hall are just a few of the many to see; the rest of the Peak District and the ancient town of Bakewell are also easily accessible.
