4 Bedroom Cottage in Braithwaite
This detached, single storey cottage rests on the edge of Braithwaite village in an idyllic countryside setting with fine views over the village towards Keswick, Skiddaw and the surrounding fells. Set over just a single floor but offering spacious living quarters, Bandol is the perfect retreat for families and friends wanting to explore the attractions of the Lake District from a serene location. The entrance can be found up several steps which lead into a porch/utility area with plenty of room for coats and boots. Look forward to unwinding in the spacious L-shaped living/dining room, complete with a beamed ceiling and a large picture window to allow plenty of light in, as well as a plush seating arrangement in front of a woodburning stove and TV for those cosy nights on the sofa. Allow the chef amongst the group to relish in the well-equipped kitchen, painted in a cream style with all the necessary appliances for a short break, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and even a washing machine and dryer for added convenience. There are four bedrooms at this Braithwaite home, including two with king-size beds, one of which has an en-suite with P-shaped bath and shower over, and two twin rooms. A beautiful garden extends around the property with immediate access to the fells, a wonderful spot to enjoy food and drink outside while the children play securely. The field surrounding the house belongs to the property and can also be safely utilised although usually grazed by sheep, so you are free to roam and explore your lovely surroundings. Wander into the village of Braithwaite, where your closest shop, pubs and restaurants are a short walk away, and you will be immersed into dramatic mountains, glittering lakes and picturesque scenery. Walks from the door take in some of the high tops including Grasmoor and Grisedale Pike whilst you can enjoy a gentler ramble along nearby winding country lanes. The tranquil Lake Derwentwater is an easy drive away and offers cruises and lake hopping services to make the most of the fantastic Keswick area. Alternatively, take a drive or scenic bus journey and visit Cockermouth, Grasmere and Ambleside further afield, before returning to the comfort of Bandol for an evening of relaxing and rejuvenation.
Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake. Lake District Wildlife Park, Dodd Wood, Derwentwater, and Keswick with its wide range of attractions, are also within easy reach.
