A 10 minute walk will take you to Battersby train station so you can leave the car and go exploring the North York Moors on the steam train or visit Whitby with its many pubs and famous abbey then sample the renowned fish and chips and get the last train home. By car, the Roman city of York is approximately an hour's drive to the South with the Yorkshire Dales and Lakes around an hour to the West. The East coast with its many fishing villages and beaches is around a 35 minute drive over spectacular moorland scenery. The Lodge is a homely property, perfect for a delightful stay on the Moors.
Great Ayton is a village in the perched on the banks of the River Leven within North East Yorkshire, and just outside of the North York Moors National Park. Hosting a good range of shops and pubs as well as cafes and restaurants, the village caters wonderfully for visitors to this quiet and scenic part of the UK. Delight in beautiful walks, cycling routes and many outdoor wonders, as well as a day trip to the coast to the seaside town of Whitby.
