Just a little further along the coast is the bustling tourist harbour town of Anstruther and there are daily ferries and boat trips leaving between April and September that take you to the Isle of May, which is a National Nature Reserve. It is home to colonies of sea birds including puffins and the surrounding waters are the habitat of seal colonies. St Andrews is just 10 miles away and is well worth a visit with historic buildings, Sea Life Centre, boutique shops, and a wide range of bars and restaurants. This area is famous for its golf, with more than 40 golf courses in Fife, from the famous fairways of St Andrews to several traditional links courses and beautifully landscaped parkland and heathland courses.
