This quaint cottage is all on the ground floor and offers open views to the fields and fells at the rear, with a large enclosed and private garden. It makes an excellent family friendly base and a great choice for couples from which to enjoy this picturesque part of Cumbria.

Scalelands cottage is on the fringe of the Lake District National Park in a small hamlet between two villages, both approximately 1 mile away, and each offering fast food and convenience stores.

A short drive to the Lake District National Park brings an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains, and lakes. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water which is 5 miles away. Ennerdale is regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District and is full of wildlife including red squirrels, osprey and buzzards. If that’s not enough, Loweswater is just 10 miles away which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere.
Whitehaven, 5 miles, has good restaurants, supermarkets, shopping, and a popular harbour. St Bees Head Heritage Coast is 6 miles away, offering excellent coastal walks and golden sandy beaches, very popular with families and dog lovers.
