This lovely renovated property nestles in the heart of Llangattock village close to the town of Crickhowell, perfect for a romantic getaway, a walking holiday or a fabulous creative retreat. The cosy mid-terrace, 18th-century property comprises of a living room with Welsh wood burner, Smart TV, bench and table, leading to a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar for two. On the first floor is a master bedroom with kingsize bed, a further bedroom with a double sofa bed, for one person, and a family bathroom with shower over bath. The cottage backs onto Onneu Brook and the sound that emulates from this is superb. Open the back windows and listen to the babbling mountain water whilst relaxing in front of the wood burner and reading a good book. Please note that the property backs onto a beautiful brook that can run quickly at times.
There is plenty to do and see in the area. The local pub is just 50 yards away and is well known for its quality home cooked food. For those looking to enjoy a walk, you can head straight out from the property and walk up to the Llangattock mountain, where some fabulous views can be enjoyed. The Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal is two minutes away and also provides idyllic walking opportunities along the historic tow path, as well as many potential pub lunches along the way.
The award-winning town of Crickhowell is a stunning 15-minute walk away. Named ’The Best Place to Live in Wales in 2019’ by the Sunday Times, and also ’The Best High Street in Britain 2018’, the town is delightful to walk round and browse the many boutiques. There are also many coffee shops and restaurants, including a couple of award-winning pubs. For those who enjoy music festivals, Crickhowell is home to the Green Man Festival during August, the Walking Festival in March and the Literary Festival in October. Abergavenny is 6 miles away, where you will find some fine dining restaurants, including a Michelin-starred restaurant and The Hardwick restaurant owned by chef Stephen Terry. The town also hosts the increasingly popular annual Abergavenny Food Festival in September. Brecon, 14 miles away, has many places of interest such as the Welsh Regimental Museum and Brecon Cathedral, and it is also home to the annual Brecon Jazz festival in August.
For those wanting to explore the area on foot, Pen-Y-Fan, South Wales’ highest peak, offers incredible views. Sugar Loaf Mountain is also nearby and is the southernmost of the peaks in the Black Mountain Range.
