Fyrish Monument (7 miles) is definitely worth the hike and effort for the views. There are plenty of sandy beaches, including Dornoch, Portmahomack, Shandwick, and Fortrose, where seals and dolphins are often spotted – all within 22 miles. Dornoch (22.5 miles) is a short drive away, well worth a visit for some shopping and a bite to eat. Dunrobin Castle (32 miles) is also worthy of a trip, sitting just north of Dornoch. In the summer, there is a small Ferry from Nigg (14 miles) across to the historic village of Cromarty.
