The town of Abingdon, which is on the banks of the River Thames, is approximately 7 miles away and is purported to be the oldest town in England. It is steeped in history with many fine old buildings. Loftings is tucked away in a rural setting in the centre of the tiny village of West Hendred, in the heart of Oxfordshire, just half an hour southwest of the historic city of Oxford. Set within a Conservation area, the village is on the edge of the ancient Ridgeway and Icknield Way, popular for hiking and biking.
No trip to this area is complete without a visit to the historic University City of Oxford where you can meander through the streets admiring the beautiful historical buildings, have a punt down the river or enjoy a shopping spree at the large shopping centre.
Within easy reach are three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with Berkshire Downs right on the doorstep where you can enjoy many hikes including the famous Ridgeway, a stunning place to watch the sunset.
