From the harbour, jump aboard the seasonal ferry to reach the sandy dunes of Instow, 4.5 miles away. Keen walkers and cyclists can join up with the traffic-free Tarka Trail from Bideford, 3 miles away, following a disused railway line, to be rewarded with superb coastal and woodland views.
