From high up at that vantage point, gaze out and admire the England-Wales border to the west. Plan a trip to Monmouth (7.5 miles) and embark on a long walk along the delightful River Monnow to capture the very best of the beautiful border scenery. To the south, discover the marvellous Forest of Dean, a sprawling wild forest filled with towering trees, mystical woodlands, and tumbling waterways, which is ripe for exploring on foot or by bike.
Venture up the hill and into this provincial stone cottage, a place that’s been updated to offer plenty of comfort yet kept cosy and traditional in its styling. On the ground floor, a small sitting room, dining area and kitchen can be enjoyed on slow mornings and restful evenings. A wood burner keeps things warm and toasty, and a dining table set for two sits beneath a restored picture window which frames a view of Goodrich Castle. The bright kitchen has up to date features with a walk-in larder that you can fill with locally sourced goodies. Moving upstairs, discover a second sitting room, also furnished with comfortable seating and a wood burner. You may notice that this property doesn’t have a TV, allowing you to look forward to evenings filled with great conversation, traditional card and board games, or just losing yourself in a book.
