Summary: First impressions were not brilliant, ie walking through alleyway from car park, meeting some young lads with skateboards using it as a shortcut. Staff were welcoming and efficient. The room (24) was warm. However, the refurb is badly needed (notice about it in the hall). I was surprised that you had to ask for a hairdryer, and also at the poor provision of toiletries. However the biggest issue for me was the quality of the bed and the pillows. The bed was truly awful. I have stayed in camping pods on campsites with mattresses much better than this one. The pillows badly need to be replaced too. On the positive side, there were plenty of milks on the hostess tray and decaf coffee as well as regular. The breakfast was fine and served quickly. All the staff I met were fine. The shower was good, but no bath math. Even if refurbishment is planned, I would have thought the most basic thing in a hotel is a comfortable bed and decent pillows. That would have tipped the balance for me.
