Summary: A lovely old building but the room I stayed in desperately needed a deep clean (cobwebs on ceiling, dusty skirting boards etc). The mattress was tired with a visible dip in it. I spoke to the reception team about this who sent the housekeeping team in to check it - they adjusted the mattress protector. They didn’t seem to agree it was in need of replacing - I didn’t have the will to argue with them as I was only staying two further nights. Carpets in corridors and on the main staircase were desperately needing a vacuum (or the vacuum cleaner needs to be replaced). There was a lovely big bath in the bathroom which was a welcome treat. The hotel was noisy on Friday and Saturday nights (I was awoken several times both nights by a door slamming), the hotel was much quieter on Sunday night and I wasn’t disturbed. Breakfast was OK but the tea pots drip. Staff pleasant enough but the whole experience was underwhelming.
