On site, the friendly owners run Ferny Rigg Alpacas, the first licensed alpaca business in Northumberland, and the property’s kingsize bed features a luxurious alpaca duvet!
The views from the cottage guarantee a relaxing break whether a short break or a week stay, a different experience awaits, with fresh eggs often available from the owners’ hens. Ferny Rigg Byre also offers free use of ¾ mile of single bank fishing on the North Tyne (guests must have own fishing license).

The area along the water offers kayaking, sailing, fishing, walking and mountain biking with regular events throughout the year. Lots of visitors love to visit the observatory, you don’t need be an expert as it’s fun for all ages.
Winter in Northumberland is as lovely as summer, with the scenery in autumn and the frosts of winter months making the surrounding countryside stunning.
