Summary: This was not a great experience and represented poor value for money. The hotel seems to be a converted Masonic Lodge and has been subdivided into 'hotel rooms.' The welcome was friendly enough but the room was dingy and tired given the price. The TV did not work initially and it took the porter 10-15 mins to sort it out. The mattress was old and uncomfortable and I would have thrown the pillows out if they had been mine. Later, when I ventured into the bathroom, I found that one of the two lights flickered with a strobing effect which gave the impression of a scene from a horror movie. By leaving it on I was thankful that it eventually failed completely. During the night a number of guests came in late slamming doors culminating in some revellers arriving back clearly drunk as they proceeded to run up and down the stairs laughing whilst banging the doors. That was at 2 30am, so it was not a restful night. I could not wait to leave and would not dream of returning.
