With great transport links, Wetheral has a quaint village green and is overlooked by a restaurant, pub, village shop and tearooms, along with the Crown Hotel. A short steep walk takes you past the church and remains of the abbey to the River Eden. Carlisle is worth a visit with its museum, historic tours, and range of entertainment.
