Set within the Upper Wharfedale valley between Kettlewell and Buckden, this idyllic National Park village is a greatplace to start your exploration of this magnificent area. Much of Upper Wharfdale is owned by the National Trust and has a rich natural heritage with dry stone walls, beautiful old barns, abundant meadows and woodlands. The area is regarded as one of the foremost walking areas in the Dales, with the challenging Dales Way path passing close by. Buckden Pike is accessed easily with gentle pathways along the riverside. The village of Starbotton is made up of a group of stone-built dwellings, and has at its heart the local pub where fine ales and good food are served. The hit film Calendar Girls was filmed in this area and at other nearby locations.
