2 Bedroom Cottage in Edlingham
Alnwick town centre 4.3 miles. Settled into a rural location on the outskirts of the town of Alnwick, Birsley Cottage is a beautiful stone property nestled into a group of quaint cottages, ideal for a family or two couples who would love to spend time in the more rural side of Northumberland. Several miles from the town centre of Alnwick, this stunning property welcomes you with breath-taking views of the local countryside, so park off-road and make yourself at home in the fantastic open-plan living area. Tall ceilings punctuated by traditional roof beams create a light and airy feel to a space where you can recline on a selection of sofas beside a woodburner and catch up on your favourite TV shows. When mealtimes call, a great kitchen space caters to your culinary needs with a range of home-from-home amenities whilst complementing the history of the property, and once you have cooked a heart-warming meal, you can enjoy it in at the dining table. The property has a ground-floor bathroom, so warm up with a soak in the bath after long countryside walks, before settling down into one of the bedrooms, a ground-floor super king-size zip-link which can be set up as a twin, and there is a second king-size on the first-floor with homely décor and a handy en-suite. Enjoy the courtyard garden and dine alfresco with a backdrop of mature shrubs and colourful plants. Alnwick has many attractions for guests, beginning with scenic countryside walks and bird watching right on your doorstep. Travel further into the town for riverside walks, convenience stores for you to buy your essentials and also a selection of tasty eateries, and Alnwick also has an amazing castle for you to explore. If you wish to enjoy a day out at the coast, then head over to Alnmouth, where a sandy beach is ideal for picnics and watersports. Make the idyllic countryside getaway with a stay at Birsley Cottage.
The attractive and historic market town of Alnwick is dominated by Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland. The Castle Gardens, opened in 2002, are home to Europe's largest cascading water feature, a fabulous (and enormous) treehouse, a delightful rose garden and a beautiful, walled ornamental garden, which will delight novice and experienced gardeners alike. The castle is also famous as the setting for Hogwarts School featured in the Harry Potter films! The town's narrow streets have seen little change since the days when the London to Edinburgh stage coach passed through and the Market Place, with its stone cross, is still the central feature and the ideal venue for the weekly Saturday market. Alnwick offers a good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat and there is plenty to see and do, with miles of golden sandy beaches, numerous castles and boat trips to the famous Farne Islands all available nearby. Altogether a superb location for exploring Northumberland and its stunning Heritage Coastline.
