On the side of the harbour is a fish centre that sells local fish and is available to the public. It is currently mostly a shellfish hatchery to restock levels of lobster and other shellfish. Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble.
