Neighborhood

This northern part of London is of historical significance as it’s one of the oldest areas. The area is in fact part of Canonbury, Greater London, which means it has great travel links to other parts of London i.e. the local neighbourhood of Islington.

It’s also a great place to visit survivors of London’s Victorian pub scene. Some have been converted into izakayas, gastropubs and specialist gin bars, but the majority are still well-loved, independently run social spaces, rather than identikit pubco venues or overpriced flats. Transit

Essex Road has an overground station on the National Rail line. Trains come every 15 minutes in the direction of central London (Moorgate) or outside of London (Welwyn Garden City). Along the way into central London you can find stops such as Old Street, and Moorgate which are great locations for food, events and more. Going in the direction of Welwyn Garden City, you’ll be heading towards north London. This gives you great locations such as Harringay and Alexandra Palace to stop off on the way.
