In the peaceful hamlet of West Scrafton, in beautiful Coverdale, stone built Barn End Cottage has been cleverly converted from a traditional cart house barn. With beamed ceilings throughout and an open fire, this cosy and comfortable cottage will provide you with a home from home whilst you explore the picturesque local area. Ideal for a family or two couples. The open plan ground floor provides discrete living, dining and kitchen areas. Upstairs the two bedrooms each benefit from their own en-suite facilities; the double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with toilet; and the twin room with an en-suite bathroom with toilet. Bed linen included; towels not included but towel hire available. There is a semi-enclosed patio with furniture to sit out to the front of the cottage.
The modern, fitted, farmhouse-style kitchen is at the heart of the cottage; but with equipment such as a slow cooker and health grill you can spend as much or as little time in there as you wish. The smart TV accesses Freeview and free digital channels and there is free, unlimited, Wi-Fi broadband provided. There is also a chromecast device so you can cast to the TV from your phone or tablet. The bookshelves are packed with novels, maps and books about the local area, as well as DVDs to entertain families and friends alike. Sorry no smoking and we regret we are unable to take dogs.
The scenic beauty of Coverdale offers superb walks to suit everyone from serious hikers to those looking for a gentle stroll. Linking Wensleysdale’s wide basin and rugged Upper Wharfedale, Coverdale is one of the least discovered Yorkshire Dales. Carlton (1 mile) and Middleham (4 miles) have a good choice of pubs and Middleham has shops; whilst the attractive market town of Leyburn is 6 miles away. At Middleham and on the moors above it you can see race horses being trained every day and you can visit a choice of training stables by arrangement. The Forbidden Corner, which provides great fun for all the family, lies between Carlton and Middleham.
Owning Barn End Cottage since 2014 has been a dream come true for our family. Until 2018 we advertised on a different website and have seen many satisfied guests from Britain, Europe, Canada and America, return year on year.
