Perched 1100ft above sea level, this delightful rural cottage adjoins the owners’ home at the end of a quiet country lane and has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. You can curl up in front of the warming wood burner in the beamed living room with a glass or two of wine, or relax in the outside seating area and watch buzzards and red kites soaring overhead. This peaceful location is the perfect place from which to explore the local area, and there are some lovely walks direct from the door.

Visit the nearby Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre and watch the red kites swoop down at feeding time, or pop along to the spectacular waterfalls at nearby Devil’s Bridge (one of the filming locations for the Welsh TV drama ‘Hinterland/Y Gwyll’). If you’re feeling energetic, climb down and up the 675 steps, stopping to get your breath back and admiring the vistas opening up at every turn. Devil’s Bridge is also the terminus of the Vale of Rheidol steam railway, where you can take a trip on beautifully restored trains on the stunning journey high above the Cwm Rheidol Valley to the coast at Aberystwyth.

In Aberystwyth you will find a great selection of shops, a vibrant Arts Centre (it’s Wales’ largest) based at the university with music, drama and film productions all year round, and the fascinating Ceredigion Museum in the town centre, based in an old theatre. Take your bucket and spade too for the lovely sandy beach, or stroll up to the north end of the promenade and take a trip on the cliff railway to the viewpoint on the top of Constitution Hill, which provides fabulous views over the town and along the coast.
