Located in the popular west Yorkshire village of Oxenhope, Haworth’s historic, cobbled main street is just 1 mile away, and once the home of the Bronte sisters, offers a wealth of shops, pubs and tea rooms together with the Bronte Parsonage Museum. Oxenhope village itself has local shops and pubs serving food, and is also the terminus of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway bought to prominence in the film ’The Railway Children’. Although just over 4½ miles long, the railway packs in six stations running along the valley to Haworth before carrying on through to Keighley. This is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, and was famously described in the novel ’Wuthering Heights’ as wild and rugged. Alternatively, Hebden Bridge with its vibrant selection of independent shops and cafés is just a 15-minute drive away.
