3 Bedroom Cottage in Newlyn
Proudly sat overlooking Newlyn Harbour and Mounts Bay, Kittiwake is a wonderful end-terrace cottage with beautiful sea views and is the ideal base for touring this stunning south west corner of Cornwall. Parking right next to the cottage, you enter into the sitting room, which is full of character with its old stone fireplace and cosy, quality furniture. On the ground floor you'll find the well-equipped kitchen and dining area, then it's upstairs to the first two bedrooms, which include a king-size double and an adult's bunk bedroom, as well as the family bathroom. Finally, up a few more stairs to the third bedroom where you can rest with a book on the balcony, with views out to sea across the famous Mounts Bay. For an early evening drink after a busy day on the beach, the small courtyard at the rear of property is a real sun trap. The cottage sits right in the heart of the town where there are a number of interesting old pubs and several restaurants to enjoy nearby. Set around its old harbour, Newlyn has long been considered an important fishing port and it's worth waking early one morning to experience the bustle of the market, where you can witness the day's catch being sold to buyers from all over Europe. The village also hosts the famous Newlyn School of Art where you can enjoy a collection of day courses, and the Newlyn Art Gallery is a must visit, as is the studio cafe on the first floor offering panoramic views across the bay. Within just a few minutes' drive, and easily reached on foot, are both Penzance and Mousehole, where there are plenty of restaurants to enjoy. Land's End is also within a short drive as are the many dramatic beaches, cliffs and fishing villages of this pretty part of Cornwall. With so much to do and see nearby, Kittiwake cottage really is the perfect location for a well-earned holiday.
Located just a mile west of Penzance, the fishing port of Newlyn is home to the largest fleet of fishing boats in the South of England and visitors can watch the landing of fish at the market on the quay. An abundance of wildlife and flora can be enjoyed along Cornwall's nearby coastal path, while basking sharks and grey seals can occasionally be seen.
