Tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Rhos y Caerau the cottage sits quietly amongst a rugged backdrop of moorland, lakes and Garn Fawr; an iron age hill fort, with breaktaking views across the entire north coast of Pembrokeshire. The views (and sunsets!) from Strumble Head are some of the very best in Wales. This serene and largely uninhabited headland offers dramatic cliffs, wild seas and fantastic array of sea and bird life. There is a designated wildlife watching observatory next to the headland’s famous lighthouse, or simply stroll along the coast path to see one of the largest seal colonies in Europe, as well as a dazzling array of flora and fauna.
The well equipped property boasts a cosy living/dining room with a wood burner in an inglenook. French doors open into a sun room with a small balcony, which fully incorporate the panoramic views across the headland. The bright and airy bedroom has an antique mirrored dressing table, comfortable twin beds and crisp white bed linen. Private and peaceful but not cut off, Ty Pegi has Wi-Fi to keep you in touch. Please be aware that the wood-fired hot tub is currently out of use until further notice.
Fishguard, 3 miles away, has a sandy beach and a range of amenities including a supermarket, petrol station and a good selection of cafes, restaurants and pubs. Fishguard Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday and a weekly market every Thursday.
Walk the nearby bridle path to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and enjoy the rugged beauty of Strumble Head. Stroll along Pwll Deri or to the top of Garn Fawr for some seriously jaw-dropping views across the St David’s Peninsula to the south and the Preseli Hills to the north.
The secluded beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach are just over 2 miles away, while the ancient woollen mill of Melin Tregwynt is well worth a visit on the way to the beach.
