The nearby village of Hutton-Le-Hole has a complex of craft shops, workshops, tea rooms and gift shops to visit, or the attractive old market town of Kirkbymoorside lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in between the towns of Helmsley and Pickering; a charming place with a slightly 'old fashioned feel'. The village of Gillamoor rests approximately three miles north of Kirkbymoorside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It nestles on the flat top of one of the tabular hills featuring a National Trail for walking. Just to the left of the village church is Gillamoor's 'Surprise View', built right on the edge of a moorland escarpment.
